Jersey isn’t really known for its bakery compared to NY I would say but there are some that I like. I have to give Pinho’s a mention because I grew up going to this bakery every Sunday morning. The donut above the sourdough donut and yes it looks sugary. It’s not a sugary as you think though when you taste it. You can taste the freshness, I think you can anyway, when you take a bite into it. It’s very moist, soft interior and not a hard exterior. The icing on the outside complements the dough on the inside so it’s a must try when you go. It has a splash of cinnamon as well but you really can’t taste it though unless you eat really slow and take in every bite. In addition to this, they have what is called a rainbow pretzel donut. They literally only make one a day, which is unfortunate, granted they have other kinds of rainbow pretzel donuts, but this one is the best of them all. Trust me, it’s a rainbow sprinkled donut shaped liked a pretzel. I’ve been to many bakeries and I don’t know one yet that does a pretzel donut that is enormous. I don’t know if they make these in bulk but I have yet to ask. In any case, if you’re special enough to grab it, just take a bite and let me know if you enjoyed it as much as I did. They do have other items as well on their menu like bagels, sandwiches, cakes and some really good custard cups. So to recap, yes to the sourdough donut, rainbow pretzel donut, and/or custard cup. Also, bring cash.
